COMPASSION WITH ACTION
By Joseph Prince – Posted July 17, 2017
Luke 7: 13
When the Lord saw her, He had
compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
My friend,
there is no trial, difficulty or challenge we face today that our Lord Jesus
cannot identify with. The moment we experience a trial, right there and then,
because He “was in all points tempted as we are” (Hebrews 4:15), He feels it
too and is able to sympathize with our weaknesses.
Jesus’
compassion for you is the same compassion He felt for the widow at Nain when He
saw the dead body of her only son being carried out of the city gate to be
buried. (Luke 7:11–15) It must have been terrible for her to experience the
death of her only son after having already experienced the death of her
husband. What a horrible thought to be left all alone in the world with no
means of support! When Jesus saw her, He was moved with compassion and said to
her, “Do not weep.”
Now, some
religious leaders might also be moved to approach her, but only to say, “Look
sister, something is terribly wrong. Your husband died. Now, your only son has
died. You must find out what is wrong. You better ask God what sin you have committed
and repent. Or perhaps there is a curse in your life that needs to be broken.”
Isn’t it
beautiful that Jesus did not extend more confusion or condemnation toward her?
He only extended His compassion to her, telling her, “Don’t weep.” This same
Jesus will also come to you when you are most distraught and say, “Don’t cry.”
And Jesus’
sympathy does not stop at “Oh, you poor thing! I am so sorry about what has
happened to you.” No, His sympathy will move Him to give you the miracle you
need in your life. That is why He raised the widow’s son back to life!
Beloved,
rest in the truth that He who is seated at the Father’s right hand today
understands what you are going through and sympathizes with your weaknesses.
The compassion of Jesus toward you causes Him to breathe life into your dead
situation and turn it around for your good!
Thought For The Day
Jesus, who
understands what you are going through, will also breathe life into your dead
situation!
Go With the Flow

Brethren, for this reason, in [spite of all] our stress and
crushing difficulties we have been filled with comfort and cheer about you
[because of] your faith (the leaning of your whole personality on God in
complete trust and confidence).
—1 Thessalonians 3:7
—1 Thessalonians 3:7
Go with the flow, and stop being
anxious about things that may never happen. If you really trust God, you don’t
need a backup plan. Faith means that you have peace even when you 12 don’t have
all the answers.
Life will always be stressful if you
constantly try to rearrange it. For example, getting upset in a traffic jam
doesn’t get you out of it any sooner. But planning for obstacles will inspire
you to leave a little earlier for your appointments and keep you from hurrying.
Grow in wisdom, and place high priority on keeping your peace in spite of any
jams you get into today.
He Will Complete It

TODAY'S
SCRIPTURE:
"And David said to his son
Solomon, ‘Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be
dismayed, for the LORD God--my God--will be with you. He will not leave you nor
forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house
of the LORD’."
(1 Chronicles 28:20, NKJV)
TODAY'S WORD:
Is there something you’ve been
believing for, something you’ve been hoping for that’s taking longer than you
expected? You might be tempted to just accept things the way they are. You
might be tempted to think it’s never going to happen. If that’s you today, be
encouraged because God is a finisher! He will complete what He’s started in
you!
Your part is to believe. Your part is to keep your eyes on Him. When you believe, you have the Creator of the universe fighting your battles, arranging things in your favor, going before you, moving the wrong people out of the way. Don’t be intimidated by the size of a problem or the size of your dream! Don’t let circumstances convince you to stop believing. “Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider, is still on the throne. One touch of God’s favor and you’ll go from barely getting by to having more than enough! Begin to thank Him and declare that God is at work. Declare that He is perfecting what concerns you. Declare that He will complete everything He’s started in your life!

PRAYER FOR
TODAY:
Father God, I thank You for completing
every good work that You have started in my life. I choose to believe Your
Word, even when things look impossible. I choose to believe that You are
working behind the scenes and that You will bring victory and breakthrough to
every area of my life in Jesus’ name! Amen.
I Offer You Work

I can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me.

George Washington Carver
rose from slavery to become a distinguished professor at Iowa State College of
Agricultural and Mechanical Arts, but one day he opened a letter from Booker T.
Washington of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, who wrote, “Our students are
poor, often starving. They travel miles of torn roads across years of poverty.
We teach them to read and write, but words cannot fill stomachs. They need to
learn to plant and harvest crops.” Washington pled with Carver to come to
Tuskegee and teach, saying, “I cannot offer you money, position, or fame. … I
offer you in their place—work—hard, hard work.”
To the shock of his
colleagues, Carver accepted, saying, “I am looking forward to a very busy,
pleasant and profitable time at your college and shall be glad to cooperate
with you in doing all I can through Christ who strengtheneth me….”1
God’s goals for our life are
far greater than our own. He opens doors and gives us inward nudges and
biblical insights as to what to do. He leads us. We may not arrive at money,
position, or fame; but when we work for Christ we can do all He assigns through
Christ who strengthens us.
The secret of my
success? It is simple. It is found in the Bible.
