Romans 4:13
For the promise that he would be the heir
of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the
righteousness of faith.
God promised
that you would be the heir of the world. It is the same promise that He made to
Abraham. And because you are Christ’s, you are Abraham’s seed and an heir
“according to the promise”. (Galatians 3:29)
When God
made this promise to you, He made it so easy for you to receive—“through the
righteousness of faith”. All you have to do is believe that as the heir of the
world every blessing is righteously yours because Jesus died to give them to
you. He also rose from the dead to enforce them in your life.
So don’t try
to earn your blessings “through the law”—through your efforts or performance.
Freely receive what God freely gives to you through Christ and His finished
work at the cross.
When a
church member was retrenched at 41 years of age, he refused to fret or think
that he had to jostle with the rest of the people in the job market. Instead,
he believed that by God’s grace, he would get a better job with a higher pay.
Indeed, through a mutual acquaintance, a new job came along with a pay packet
that was 60 per cent more than his previous one!
Another man
was experiencing a strained relationship with his wife to the point that
divorce was imminent. When he started attending our church, he realized that a
happy marriage could be his, not by his trying to keep the marriage going or
earning the love of his wife, but by believing that although he could see his
own weaknesses, he was still the righteousness of God in Christ because of the
blood of Jesus. Today, he and his wife are reconciled, and enjoying a blessed
marriage.
Don’t let
the devil disqualify you by bringing you the law and saying, “How can you
receive this blessing when just last night, you broke God’s law?” or “Are you
sure you deserve this?” Instead, say, “Father, I thank You that I receive everything
freely by Your grace, Your unmerited favor in my life, because of the blood of
Jesus!”
Thought For The Day
Freely
receive what God freely gives to you through Christ and His finished work at
the cross.
Clean Up

Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
—Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
—Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
Have you ever gone on a cleaning
rampage to straighten up your home or office? Did you enjoy pitching junk,
straightening objects, and organizing materials so that you could find them
when you need them?
You may need to get on a Holy Ghost
rampage and do the same thing with your life. Say, “I've had enough bondage.
I've had enough negative thoughts. I've had enough of the lies of the devil. I
am not going to have any more bad days. I am not going to be discouraged,
depressed, or despondent. I am going to enjoy my life!”
Jesus is ready to help you live life to
the fullest!

TODAY'S
SCRIPTURE:
"Keep on asking, and you will
receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking,
and the door will be opened to you."
(Matthew 7:7, NLT)
(Matthew 7:7, NLT)
TODAY'S WORD:
Is there something you are believing
God for today? Does it seem like it’s taking a long time to come to pass? Be
encouraged because the Bible says that through faith and patience you will
inherit His promises! If you’ll stay in faith, if you’ll keep on seeking Him,
it won’t be long until you see that breakthrough!
The problem is that most people give up just before they get their miracle. They stop when things get hard or when they don’t get the answer they want the first time. But today’s verse encourages us to continually ask and continually seek. That doesn’t mean that we seek Him one time and then stop. No, we seek Him until we have the promise!
Today, submit your prayers to the Lord and keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking on the door, and it will be opened to you. Know that God is working behind the scenes. He perfecting whatever concerns you. Don’t give up! Instead, start thanking Him for His faithfulness in your life. Thank Him for His promise that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek after Him!

PRAYER FOR
TODAY:
Father in heaven, thank You for giving
me a diligent spirit. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Give me strength to
stand and seek You until I see Your promises fulfilled in every area of my life
in Jesus’ name! Amen.
Favor and Power

Then Samuel took the horn
of oil and anointed [David] in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the
LORD came upon David from that day forward.
1 Samuel 16:13a
1 Samuel 16:13a
Recommended Reading: Mark 1:9-13
Since 1789, presidents of
the United States have been inaugurated. In monarchies like Great Britain, the
monarch is crowned and also anointed with oil. The tradition of anointing with
oil has its roots in ancient cultures, especially that of Israel.
Anointing with oil served
several purposes: medicinal, cosmetic, and bestowing favor. A woman anointed
Jesus’ feet at a dinner as a sign of humility and respect (Luke 7:46). But when
God anointed someone, through His prophets, it was a sign of divinefavor
and power. The prophet Samuel confirmed God’s choice of David as king of Israel
by anointing David with oil—“and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David.”
Instead of being anointed with oil at the beginning of His ministry, Jesus was
anointed by the Holy Spirit Himself (Mark 1:9-13). Thus the Holy Spirit
replaced oil as the sign of divine favor and power in the believer’s life.
Paul commands us to “be
filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) as a way to live out the Spirit’s
anointing day by day.
Am I ignitable? God
deliver me from the dread asbestos of “other things.” Saturate me with the oil
of the Spirit that I may be aflame.
