John 13:8
Peter said to Him, “You shall never
wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with
me.”
Can you
imagine the Lord wanting to wash your feet? Peter could not. His shocked
reaction—“Lord, how can you wash my feet!”—would probably be ours too.
I want you
to notice what the Lord said to him: “Peter, if I don’t wash your feet, you
have no part with Me.” What the Lord was actually saying to Peter was, “Peter,
you cannot flow together with Me, you cannot walk together with Me in ministry,
in service and in effectiveness, if you don’t let Me wash your feet.” So Peter
said, “Lord, [wash] not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” (John
13:9)
But Jesus
answered him saying, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is
completely clean; and you are clean…” (John 13:10)
Once we have
accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are bathed all over, and cleansed by
His blood once and for all eternity! His blood has perfected us forever
(Hebrews 10:14), and we only need to wash our feet because we walk in the world
and our feet pick up dust and dirt, causing us to stumble.
So how is
Jesus washing our feet today? Ephesians 5:25–26 tells us that “Christ also
loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse
her with the washing of water by the Word”.
We, the
church, are cleansed with the washing of water by the Word. The more we come
under anointed teaching that unveils Christ through the Word, the more the
cleansing goes on. And as our feet are washed, instead of stumbling, we will be
walking and even running!
Today,
though high and lifted up in heaven, Jesus is dressed in a robe with a golden
girdle around his chest. (Revelation 1:13) Like a servant who uses his girdle
as a towel to serve, Jesus wants us to sit down and let Him serve us—by washing
our feet with a deeper revelation of Himself through His Word. Beloved, this is
what gives us victory in our daily walk!
Thought For The Day
As we
receive a deeper revelation of Christ through His Word, we will see victory in
our daily walk!
The Written Word

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
—Psalm 119:105
—Psalm 119:105
The Bible is written as a personal
letter to you. God speaks to you, ministers to your needs, and directs you in
the way you should go in His written Word. He tells you what you should do and
how you should live.
It is a mistake to think we can hear
clearly from God without spending time in the Word. Knowing the written Word
protects you from deception. Listening for God's voice without being dedicated
to spending time in the Word on a regular basis opens you up to hearing voices
that are not from God. There may be times when God speaks something to you that
is outside a specific chapter and verse of the Bible, but it will always be in
agreement with His Word.
Tonight, spend time reading a portion
of God's personal letter to you and allow Him to speak to your heart. God’s
Word is one of the most precious gifts we have. Treasure it.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
"If your law had not been my
delight, I would have perished in my affliction"
(Psalm 119:92, ESV)
(Psalm 119:92, ESV)
TODAY'S WORD:
If it had not been for the goodness of
God, where would you be? Some wouldn’t be alive today. Some would still be
addicted. If it had not been for God’s favor some would still be struggling,
barely making it. You may say, “Well Joel, I’ve got a long way to go.” And that
may be true, but I want you to take a moment and look back over your life and
realize how far you’ve come. The same God that brought you this far, the same
God that has kept you alive is going to carry you through any difficulty you
may be facing.
The key is to just start praising and thanking Him for His goodness. Thank Him for His favor and blessing upon you. Praise precedes the victory. Praise brings the walls of opposition down. Praise is the invitation for God to intervene on your behalf! Today, I declare that the goodness of God is all over you! He is directing your steps, and you are following His leading. I declare that your best days are ahead, and as you praise Him and thank Him, you will move forward into the victory and blessing He has prepared for you!

PRAYER FOR
TODAY:
Father, thank You so much for Your
goodness and faithfulness in my life. I know that Your hand of favor is upon
me. I know that You are leading me and guiding me in victory. Keep me close to
You as I surrender every area of my heart and mind to You in Jesus’ name. Amen!
The Key to Calmness

But seek first the
kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to
you.
Matthew 6:33
Matthew 6:33
Recommended Reading: Matthew 6:25-34
When missionary to China
Alice Taylor felt nearly insane with fear because her children, who were in
boarding school, had been taken to an internment camp during World War II, she
remembered how her old pastor back home, Pa Ferguson, had explained Matthew
6:33. He had said to her, “Alice, if you take care of the things that are dear
to God, He will take care of the things dear to you.”
Having no way to help her
children, Alice took Matthew 6:33 as Gospel truth and trusted God to protect
her youngsters as she faithfully tried to go about her work for Him. And in
God’s perfect timing the family was gloriously reunited.
We need to allow God to take
care of the things hurting us, while we pray about the things that are hurting
His heart. If you have cares and concerns right now—especially issues over
which you have little or no control—leave them in God’s hands and spend your
time serving rather than stressing. If we take care of the things that are dear
to God, He will take care of the things dear to us.
For our family that
advice from Pa Ferguson long years ago will always hold special meaning. I pass
it along to you, for it is truly so.
