Be Stable-Minded
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
"But
when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is
like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
James 1:6, NIV
James 1:6, NIV
TODAY'S WORD:
One
thing that can lead you away from your potential and seeing the awesome plan
God has for your life is your emotions. Emotions are God-given, but too often,
people allow their circumstances to dictate their emotions and thoughts instead
of the Word of God. When we allow our circumstances to dictate our emotions,
when we are moved by what we see and experience, it opens the door for doubt
and fear to come in. When we allow doubt and fear in, we become unstable.
Understand this key: the way you feel today has little to do with what God is
actually doing in your life. He's working behind the scenes whether you realize
it or not! Don't allow yourself to be tossed around by your emotions any
longer. Instead, choose to be stable-minded by focusing your thoughts on the
Word of God. Stand strong in Him so you can confidently embrace the good plan
He has for you!
PRAYER
FOR TODAY:
"Father,
thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I
choose to meditate on Your truth which is my source of strength and faith. Help
me to be steadfast and strong as I set my focus on You in Jesus' name.
Amen."
THE LORD IS YOUR REFUGE

Psalm
91:1-2
He who
dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is
my refuge and my fortress: my God, in Him I will trust.”
Every day, we are bombarded with news of conflicts,
natural disasters, diseases and new strains of drug-resistant viruses. We also
hear of people losing their loved ones in freak accidents. And we ask
ourselves, “Is there a place where I can take refuge from a world gone mad?”
Yes, there is! God foresaw all these things and He has
promised in His Word protection from every evil known to man. There is no trap
set by the devil that our Father cannot deliver us from, if we trust in Him and
take Him as our refuge. That is His promise in Psalm 91.
Whether it is an earthquake at midnight, a crazy sniper,
an unknown virus or a terrorist attack, God says, “You shall not be afraid of
the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence
that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
(Psalm 91:5–6)
Because you have made Him your dwelling place, angels are
watching over you right now. (Psalm 91:9–11) They give heed to the voice of
God’s Word, so you should give voice to God’s Word. This means that you should
agree with and speak what God’s Word says about His preserving and protecting
you. Then, angels are sent to minister for you. (Hebrews 1:14)
My friend, don’t say, “If it can happen to them, it can
also happen to me!” Say, “A thousand may fall at my side and 10,000 at my right
hand, but it will not come near me!” (Psalm 91:7) The world says that you
cannot but expect danger all around. God says, “You are in this world but not
of this world. You have My protection because you are of Me and in Me.” (John
17:14–23)
You have access by faith into the secret place of the Most
High where no evil can touch you. There is no need to fear living in the end
times because the Lord is your refuge and fortress. His Word says so. And those
who trust His Word completely find His Word completely true!
Thought For The Day
The Lord is your refuge from every evil known to man.
It’s Okay to Be Different
by Joyce Meyer - posted February 16, 2017
The sun is glorious in one way,
the moon is glorious in another way, and the stars are glorious in their own
[distinctive] way; for one star differs from and surpasses another in its
beauty and brilliance.
—1 Corinthians 15:41
—1 Corinthians 15:41
We are
all different. Like the sun, the moon, and the stars, God has created us to be
different from one another, and He has done it on purpose. Each of us meets a
need, and we are all part of God’s overall plan.
Thankfully,
we can be secure people, knowing God loves us and has a plan for our lives. We
don’t have to be threatened by the abilities of others. We can be free to love
and accept ourselves and one another without feeling pressure to compare or
compete.
When we
struggle to be like others, not only do we lose ourselves, but we also grieve
the Holy Spirit. God wants us to fit into His plan; He doesn’t want us feeling
pressured to fit into everyone else’s plans. Different is okay; it is all right
to be different.
Prayer of Thanks: Father, You have created me to be distinct and unique, andI thank
You for that. With Your help I’m going to avoid the temptation to compare
myself to others. I’m going to be secure in who You’ve created me to be today.
Correct!
By DR. David Jeremiah – Posted February 16, 2017
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; therefore do not
despise the chastening of the Almighty.
Job 5:17
Job 5:17
The
dictionary defines the verb correct as “to set right, to remove errors
from.” Job 5:17 says the happy person is the one whom God corrects. Hebrews
12:9 says, “We have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect.
Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and
live?” And according to 2 Timothy, God has two tools He often uses to correct
us—our teachers and His Word.
Paul
told Timothy, “…a servant of the LORD must not quarrel but be gentle to all,
able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition” (2
Timothy 2:24-25). And in the next chapter, we read: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2
Timothy 3:16).
Human
fathers corrected their children for earthly reasons, but our heavenly Father
corrects His children for eternal reasons, and He often does it using godly
teachers and His holy Word. What needs correcting in your life today? Let’s ask
God to set us right and remove all errors from our hearts.
Discipline is the divinely ordained path to a deepening
relationship with God and a growing love with him…Thus to refuse discipline, is
to turn our back on growth and love.
